Prayer - Finding The Will Of God

"

One of the biggest problems most of us have in our prayer life is finding the will of God. Is that not true? And yet we have this promise: “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him” (1 John 5:14-15).

It is the Holy Spirit of God in us that gives us direction so we will know how to pray. Sure, the Bible says “my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). But friend, that does not settle it. I mean, it is true, but sometimes we want things we don’t need. Isn’t that true? And sometimes we need to pray for things that we don’t want. But how are we going to know how to pray for these things?

We must return to how Jesus taught us to pray: “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” That is the way you get your prayers answered. Not trying to superimpose your will on the will of God, but knowing what is going on in heaven. Do you know why we don’t know what is going on in heaven? Because we spend too little time there in worship. We rush into the presence of God and say, “Now listen, Lord, your servant is speaking.” Rather, we should be saying, “Speak Lord, for your servant hears.”
