Prophets...Or Profits?

"

“In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges 17:6

Do you know what’s wrong in America today? We have a country filled with professional prophets who bear the title of “Profit” and not “Preacher.” It’s a generation of “men-called” preachers rather than “God-called” preachers.

Now, I’m not saying pastors ought not to be paid. Of course they ought to be paid.

“Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.” (1 Corinthians 9:13-14).

And First Timothy 5:17-18 says, “Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”

I am convinced that America could be quickly and dramatically changed if we had a generation of preachers who faithfully stood in the pulpit without fear or favor and preached the Word of God with the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God upon them. Preachers need to stop trying to win popularity contests.
