Watch Your Words

"

Your tongue can get you into a lot of trouble. There’s nothing that can do more damage to your marriage than your words. Proverbs 10:19 says, “In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.” Be slow to speak.

Proverbs 17:27 says, “He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.” That is, if you’re smart, you won’t talk so much.

Proverbs 21:23 says, “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.” Now in this context he’s not talking about staying silent and thus failing to communicate. He’s simply saying, “Watch your words. Keep them warm and sweet; you may have to eat them!”

A wise man once said, “Speech is silver, but silence may be gold.”
