Scripture Passage: Revelation 5
Adrian Rogers says, “You will never have true fulfillment, or understand why you were made until you come to worship the One who is worthy.”
Revelation 5 is one of the most glorious chapters in the Bible, because it gives a prophetic picture of Jesus, the Lamb of God, who alone is worthy of our praise.
“Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?’ And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.” (Revelation 5:2-3).
When God created the world, He gave dominion over all of creation to Adam. When tempted to sin by the devil, Adam and Eve legally lost their dominion and became slaves of Satan. What was lost by a man needed to be regained by a man. Jesus stepped out of glory and became a man, the Second Adam, to gain back what the first Adam lost. He liberated us from our sins and freed us from Satan’s domain.
“...I heard saying: ‘Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!’” (Revelation 5:13)
There has never been a time that Jesus was not worthy of our worship; one day, we will join with all of creation to sing this eternal song of the ages.
Today, we have a chance to praise Jesus, who is exclusively, exceedingly, and eternally worthy of worship. Adrian Rogers says, “If I had a thousand lives, I’d give every one to Jesus Christ.”
